The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade stated that specialized solar industrial parks represent a new chapter in the development of renewable energies, mentioning that so far, 96 licenses have been issued with a capacity of 47 megawatts, of which 19 megawatts are now operational. According to the public relations of the Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization, "Farshad Moqimi" emphasized this point, adding that having reliable electricity in industrial parks, industrial areas, special economic zones, and major industries is crucial for achieving the country's economic growth.
He further added that solar energy specialized industrial areas provide the necessary foundation for the establishment of small-scale electricity production units from renewable sources, a policy aimed at addressing the challenges and imbalances in the country's electricity production and consumption.
The Chairman and CEO of the Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization highlighted major actions to increase the country’s electricity production capacity, continuing: the construction of solar power plants on the roofs of industrial units, unallocated lands in existing parks and areas, and the development of specialized solar industrial parks are being pursued and monitored.
Moqimi emphasized that in this context, the first specialized solar energy industrial park, Shal-e Qazvin, covering 785 hectares with an estimated electricity production capacity of 220 megawatts, has commenced operations. The Deputy Minister also noted that plans are in place to establish 21 specialized solar energy industrial parks and zones in eight provinces including Qazvin, Kerman, Yazd, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, East Azerbaijan, Fars, Bushehr, and Kurdistan.
Moqimi mentioned that the construction of 4 solar energy specialized industrial parks and zones in the provinces of Qazvin and Kerman has been operationalized, and 115 solar zones in existing industrial parks and areas covering 5137 hectares have been allocated, collectively playing a significant role in providing stable electricity for industrial units and in the development of renewable energies.
